Tell U.S. House to Back Senate's Transportation Bill

When the Senate passed their version of the federal transportation bill on March 14, 2012 with a supermajority, we were thrilled that this pivotal legislation is finally moving forward.

This forward-thinking bill, shepherded by California's own Senator Boxer:

1) Ensures that when federal funds are used on roads, they meet minimum safety standards for making the roads safe and complete for everyone, whether motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, wheelchair users or transit riders.

2) Restores – and makes permanent – tax benefits for public transportation commuters equal to those of car drivers.

3) Protects designated funds for walking and biking by maintaining local control over these funds.

4) Maintains guaranteed funding for the Mass Transit Account.

The U.S. House proposed a terrible version of the bill that's gone nowhere which would eliminate all dedicated funds for walking, biking, and transit.

Now it's time for the U.S. House to get on board with the Senate's bill.  Tell them to support it now.
